a graphic designer's whims and woes

Sunday, July 02, 2006

Today I have a small discussion with my partner about the woes of a graphic designer. I just felt that some people don't really find it as a profession; they say it's more like a hobby. It really disturbed me. This is a very old profession, how come somebody disregard that? True, the fashion creator coined the term 'designers' first, but hey, we also design something from nothing. And who are these people, suddenly claimed themselves to be a graphic designer? They came out of nowhere like a plague, arguing they are the experts. I'll tell you this much, good designers create flawless designs, both in concept and products. They don't rely on software skills ONLY. Real designers will not copy others, they create something new all the time. They never ceased to amazed me with innovations. Salute to the true-to-the-core graphic artist. Goodluck for the wannabees... you need more than those coreldraws to survive... =p
